My project involves modeling aerial gamma ray surveys using existing data sets such as geochemical data and NURE data. To create a model of the gamma radiation coming from the rocks and soil, these data are sorted based on geologic unit or based on other radiation units I have created. The goal of this research is to be able to predict background radiation coming from the top 30 cm of rocks and soil, and thus be able to replicate aerial gamma ray surveys, and more accurately find radiation contamination in the environment.
